In-game footage: walking through the Sunday santhe, stalls and shoppers on both sides.
Our town, playable
Namma Ooru means “our town”. Ours is Bengaluru, built area by area as a game you can play in your browser. It starts in Koramangala.
In-game The Sunday santhe, on foot
The first PG.
The first job.
Dosa at midnight.
Forty minutes to cross Silk Board.
Why start in Koramangala
Ask anyone in Bengaluru about Koramangala and you get a story. Usually one of the four above.
It is the whole city in one neighbourhood: gulmohars over the roads, autos at every corner, water tankers on every lane, a Sunday santhe on the footpath and the 4 pm rain right on time. If one corner of Bengaluru deserved to be a game you could walk around in, it was this one.
Who makes it
Namma Ooru is made by an indie developer in Bengaluru. AI tools helped them move faster: with the code, the voices and the music. What to build, which lanes to get right and every joke about traffic came from living here.
The music and the voices you hear in the game are AI-generated, and the credits say so plainly, along with everyone else whose work made the game possible.
The map and the sky
The streets come from OpenStreetMap, the map that volunteers around the world draw by hand. 80 Feet Road, Hosur Road, Sarjapur Road and the blocks between them follow the real layout. The buildings, shops and signs on them are our own, and every brand is a parody.
The sky is real. The game asks Open-Meteo for the current weather over Koramangala, so when it rains in Bengaluru, it rains in the game. The day keeps its own clock, a little quicker than the real one, so a full day passes in about three quarters of an hour.
Chapter 1
Delivery Boy. You arrive in Koramangala with one bag and a backlog, take a room in a PG and start riding for a food app.
Eight story missions and four side stories, through the lanes, the auto stand, a big match night and the lake. Between them the city is yours to ride, drive, race and get into trouble in. It is out on Sunday 1 November 2026, Kannada Rajyotsava, free.
